DC Comics - Batman - Knight Moves

DC Comics - Batman - Knight Moves

Batman is on the descent, presumably from Catwoman, in this dizzying image taken from the 1990s series, “Batman,” produced by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm.

Traces of what gives Gotham its distinct darkness is found in this piece’s background, such as perilously tall buildings and the blood-red nighttime background.

Sometimes called serigraph cels, the serigraphy process involves silk-screening each in individual color to the cel, one at a time. Every distinct shade is a separate screen and pass, flawlessly reproducing each color.

This dimensional sericel includes two cels and a background designed to be framed with a small space between each layer. This creates a dramatic and dimensional look to the art.
