John Seerey-Lester - Celebrating Hua Mei
One of the world's foremost wildlife artists, John Seerey-Lester has a passion for the preservation of wilderness and wildlife. When the panda named Hua Mei was born in captivity at The San Diego Zoo on August 21, 1999, Seerey-Lester went to see her.

"I based my painting on the panda at about 3 months of age. Hua Mei (pronounced Mwa May) means 'China USA,' symbolizing the partnership between these two countries as they work together to bring the giant panda back from the brink of extinction.
