Liudmila Kondakova - The Latin Quarter
Divided into 20 districts or “arrondissements,” Paris’ 5th and 6th districts on the left bank of the Seine are known as The Latin Quarter due to the fact that Latin was spoken in and near the Sorbonne University, located in the area.
Allowing us to feel a part of this beautiful and historical section of Paris away from the normal din of activity, Liudmila Kondakova has chosen to paint a tranquil scene in her extraordinarily detail style. Spirited streets are now empty and serene, serving as a request for you to come and join the experience. The bistro she has chose to depict is the Relais Odeon, a charming eating establishment that is decorated in the Art Deco style and where waiters are known to dance to lively music while balancing their trays.
The Latin Quarter always known for its vivacious atmosphere, still serves as a highlight of any visit to Paris and Liudmila Kondakova has offered us a chance to view it as if we had it all to ourselves.
