Walt Disney Art Classics - Mickey Mouse - Mickey's Film Festival

|
The Story This specially created limited edition sericel depicts glamorous Mickey, Minnie and Pluto, ushered by doorman Goofy, as they arrive at a grand Hollywood premiere - to the screams of fans (including Daisy Duck), the pop of flashbulbs (including that of reported Donald Duck), and the excitement of a gala night ahead.
The Artwork This is a limited edition sericel depicting six classic Disney characters - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto. The Walt Disney Studios has created this character image using the fine art screen-printing process of color reproduction known as serigraphy. Disney artists specially created a hand-inked, hand-painted animation cel master which was used as a reference in the production of these sericels. A total of 25 colors were then used to recreate the color image, each of which has been exactingly screen-printed, one color at a time, onto the acetate cel. Reflecting milestone achievements in Disney animation, the one-sheets in the theatre's marquee are reproductions of the original theatrical posters from the classic films - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), Cinderella (1950), Peter Pan (1953) and Sleeping Beauty (1959).
From early in his career, Mickey was a favorite of the Hollywood "in-crowd," and Mickey quickly found that in addition to costarring with barnyard animals, he'd occasionally share the screen with Garbo, Gable, Chaplin, the Marx Brothers, and the Barrymores. Short cartoons like Mickey's Gala Premiere (1933), Mickey's Polo Team (1936), and The Autograph Hound (1939) featured Mickey and Donald in the company of famous stars of the day.
"Mickey's Film Festival" serves as the central image of Walt Disney Animation Art's Golden Age of Animation celebration, which begins in May 1999.
